Obituary - "After a long and painful disease - cancer on the stomach - Mrs. J.F. Waschefort of Teutopolis, died on Saturday, the 18th inst., at one o'clock A.M. Her funeral took place on Tuesday, at the Catholic church, commencing at 7:30 o'clock a.m.
The church was heavily draped in mourning and the services were of an imposing solemnity.
The very Rev. P. Mauritius, Rectar of the St. Joseph's College (Teutopolis, Illinois), officiated at the solemn Requiem and Rev. P. Mathias preached the funeral discourse and performed the burial ceremonies according to the rites of the Catholic Church with unusual impressiveness . . . she was aged 53 years and 28 days and leaves a sorrowful husband and four children - three daughters and one son to mourn her premature departure . . ."
