Carleton J. Amundson, 51, passed away on May 22 at Helsinki, Finland, of a heart attack.

Mr. Amundson was born at Sandstone on Sept. 9, 1925. In 1943, he graduated from the Sandstone High School and immediately joined the maritime service carrying ammunition to troops during World War II. He continued serving on merchant ships until his death. He was stricken at sea and taken to a hospital in Helsinki where he passed away.

Survivors are sister Marlene Nelson of Minneapolis, half brother Herbert of Willmar and half sister Nina Coyen of Madison. He was preceded in death by father, C. J. Amundson in 1940 and mother, Lena Amundson Teich in 1973.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, at the Werner Brother Chapel, Minneapolis, with graveside services at Spring Park Cemetery, Sandstone, at 3 p.m. Rev. Gordon Nelson was officiating clergyman.
