Hanna was born on the island of Karmøy (Haga farm) to Torbjørn Hansen and Anna Serine Jakobsdtr. She came to America with her older sister Anna and her future husband Lars Holland. They sailed on the bark Heros, arriving in Quebec on 6/1/1869. Hanna married Lars Holland and they settled in Benton County, Iowa. Hanna was the mother of twelve children. After her husband's death in 1910, Hanna lived for a time in South Dakota with her daughter Hattie and then she moved back to Iowa where she lived with her daughter Belda Tuttle until her death.
