TINMOUTH - Hilda M. Janssen, 91, died Feb. 20, 2011, at Rutland Health and Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness.

She was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Oldenburg, Germany, the daughter of Edward and Gesine (Preyt) Janssen.

She attended Sewanhaka High School in New Hyde Park, N.Y.

Ms. Janssen was employed as office manager for Continental Confection Co. for over 40 years prior to retirement in 1985.

She attended Tinmouth Church.

She was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening, travel, playing Scrabble and mahjong.

Survivors include two brothers, Herbert Janssen of Edgewood, Md., and Edward Janssen of East Meadow, LI, N.Y., several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Janssen was predeceased by a sister, Ella Duhnoski, and a brother, Henry Janssen, both in 2010.

There will be no public calling hours or funeral service.

Burial will be at a later date in Tinmouth Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rutland Health and Rehabilitation Center Residence Fund, 46 Nichols St., Rutland, VT 05701.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Aldous Funeral Home.
