Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro with the Rev. Keith Harder, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lehigh Mennonite Cemetery in rural Lehigh by Jost Funeral Home of Hillsboro.
Mr. Nickel was born Feb. 21, 1943, in Hillsboro to Huldrich and Sarah Rempel Nickel. He was a locomotive engineer for 37 years with BNSF.
Survivors include two sons, Chris Nickel and Tony Nickel, both of Wichita; two brothers, Jerry Nickel of Mercedes, Texas, and Cliff Nickel of Hillsboro; and three grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 50433, Amarillo, TX 79159.
