Formerly Olive Bersch, she was born in her parent’s home in Howards Grove, on Oct. 2, 1916. She was the youngest of five children born to Pioneer County parents, Mary Zech and Jacob Peter Bersch.
Educated in the Howards Grove one-room school, she was sent to Edgewood Catholic School for Girls in Madison, where she received fine business and clerical training. She worked for the former Evans Insurance Agency in downtown Milwaukee where she met her husband to be, Warren V. Hahn. He was going to medical school at Marquette University after World War II. The storybook wedding took place at Gesu Catholic Church in downtown Milwaukee on Aug. 29, 1951.
Making their home in Oshkosh, Olive took up the work of homemaker. She supported her husband for many years as a general practitioner who made numerous “house calls.” She also donated her energy to volunteer work for the Ladies Auxiliary of Mercy Medical Center, the Oshkosh Public Library, and St. Josaphat’s Church. She loved bridge and played golf actively for many years. More than anything, Olive enjoyed the lightheartedness and dance of a plethora of musical tastes. Many, singing in the heavens, assuredly join her.
Her niece, Pam gratefully remembers going to country auctions, many happy holiday celebrations and much shared fun over food preparation.
Doctor Hahn died suddenly on Feb. 15, 1995. At this time, Mrs. Hahn moved into an assisted living situation.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Michael J. Hahn of Oshkosh; one niece, Pamela Kuehlman-Rumney of Davidsonville, Md. and a multitude of friends who enjoyed many hours of fun playing cards and sitting around the Hahn dinner table. Preceding her in death were a brother who passed on at the age of two, Raymond; her eldest sister, Armella Bersch; older brother, Delmar “Mike” Bersch and older sister, Corrine Kuehlman.
