Dennis Lang, a longtime managing editor of The Lawton Constitution who hailed from Tulsa and attended Sand Springs schools, died Thursday, February 8, 2007, in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 55.

A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home in Oklahoma City, with burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. A memorial service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Prairie Building at the Comanche County Fairgrounds.

Lang was born July 2, 1951, in Tulsa to Alton "Tony" and Norma Lang. He graduated from Charles Page High School in Sand Springs and then received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma.

He married Gloria Foster on May 20, 1972, in Oklahoma City and joined Lawton newspapers as a reporter two years later. He became an editor in 1979 and was named the managing editor in 1983. He spent 21 years as the managing editor before retiring for medical reasons in 2004. Lang was a member of and one-time president of the Associated Press / Oklahoma News Executives board of directors, and he was a member of the Associated Press Managing Editors, American Society of Newspaper Editors and the Oklahoma Press Association.
