LUZERNE - Arthur B. Schaefer, age 89, died Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Manor Care in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, July 16, 2007 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Luzerne with Rev. Michael Musick officiating. Interment will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Luzerne. The Visitation will also be held at the church in Luzerne from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday. A memorial fund has been established. Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown is in charge of arrangements.
Arthur was born May 23, 1918 at South Amana to Henry and Mary (Huedepohl) Schaefer. On December 6, 1940 he married Lorene Wardenburg at Keystone. She preceded him in death on February 11, 2002.
Arthur farmed near Luzerne for fifty- four years and was also employed by Amana Refrigeration for eighteen years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Luzerne.
He is survived by his children, Jerry (Mary) Schaefer of Marion, Dean (Jean) Schaefer of Garland, TX, and Susan (Dennis) Albers of Bondurant; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his brother, Ray Schaefer of Williamsburg.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold and Clarence Schaefer; and his sister, Nora Schaefer.
