Levi L. Emmel, 93, RR1, Kenmare, died Monday, November 22, 1993 in his farm home. His funeral was held Saturday, November 27 in Faith Baptist Church, Kenmare with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery, rural Norma. Rev. Bruce Bryan and Rev. Villes Emmel officiated at the service. Active Casketbearers included Arlyn Emmel, Larry Emmel, Roger Jensen, Dennis Emmel, Doyle Emmel, and Arvid Emmel.

He was born May 20, 1900 in Beatrice, Nebraska to August and Johanna Emmel. His family moved to and homesteaded that summer in Stafford Township, Renville County, rural Norma. In 1906 his family moved to Stony Plains, Alberta where they farmed until 1910. They then returned to rural Norma where he was reared and attended grade school. He married Agnes Johnson October 4, 1931 in rural Norma. After their marriage they lived and farmed in rural Norma until 1941, when they moved to a farm in Kenmare Township, Ward County, rural Kenmare. They retired from farming in 1974. Mrs. Emmel died September 11, 1980.

He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church, Kenmare and was a member and active in Gideons International. At one time he had served on the Farmers Co-op Elevator Board, Norma.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Millard Skar, Kenmare; son, Dean Emmel, Jamestown; grandson, Jason Skar, Kenmare; brother, Herbert, Kenmare; sisters, Eva Shaver, Kenmare, Maude Moen and Elvira Sherod, both of Salem, Oregon.

Levi was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; parents, August and Johanna; brothers, Harvey, Louis, Walter, and Lloyd.

Anderson Mortuary of Mohall handled the service.
