Thief River Falls - Kenneth Habedank, 85, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at his home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 13th, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Caleb Dunham and Roy Williams leading. Casket bearers included Lawrence Hemmesch, Orlis Hanson, Dale Svendsgaard, Leonard Geske, Tom Fisher and Myron Olufson. Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.

Kenneth Richard Habedank was born on March 17, 1924 to Alice Hruby in St. Paul. He grew up in rural Pennington County and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1940. He was united in marriage to Yvonne Thomalla on August 12th, 1950 in Moorhead. They settled in the Mavie community living on a farm there for 37 years. Ken farmed for most of his life. After leaving the farm, Ken and Yvonne moved into Thief River Falls. During Ken's life he worked for NYA, Swift meat packing plant, Star Tribune, Arctic Cat, and was a TRF school bus driver.

He enjoyed classic cars, antique engines, reading car books, listening to old time music, auction sales, and traveling. He was a member of the Czech Lodge, Plymouth Owners Club and the Eagles.

Ken is survived by his wife, Yvonne, Thief River Falls, son Richard (Linda) Habedank of Eden Prairie; two daughters, Bonnie Jo (Al) Kyles of Ennis, Mont., and Stephanie Habedank of Tinton Falls, N.J.; one grandson, Stephen Kampa of Baltimore, M.d.; seven sisters, Dorothy (Arthur) McLaughlin of Bemidji, Viola Anderson of Warren, Pearl (Lavern) Adamson of Thief River Falls, Goldie (Dennis) Jones of Flint, Mich., Freda (Lawrence) Hemmesch of Thief River Falls, Arvilla (Henry) Hastad of Thief River Falls, Phyllis Wilhelm of Thief River Falls; one brother, Gary (Sharon) Habedank of Spring Lake Park; and several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; sister Claudia Cole; brother Clifford Habedank; and brother-in-law, Lester Anderson.
