Assassinated by members of the Dutch resistance movement.(shot in the head) German reprisal measure:29 Dutchmen executed,2 houses were set on fire.passers-by were forced to watch.
Buried Nieuwe Oosterbegraafplaats Amsterdam.
Reburied between 15/10/1947 and 22/03/1948 Ysselsteyn.
On October 24, early in the morning, the Germans removed twenty-nine men from the prison on the Weteringschans and dragged them against a wall. Local residents were taken out of their houses to watch how they were executed as retaliation The oldest was Jan Boekestein, 57, the youngest Abraham Bijland, 18, a student of the Amsterdams Lyceum.
