William E. Minnich, 66, of Woodlawn Drive, Wapakoneta, died Friday morning, April 11, 1997, at his residence.
He was born September 3, 1930, in Geyer, the son of Carl and Lylah (Hover) Minnich, who preceded him in death. On January 30, 1954, he married Patricia A. Slattery, who died October 22, 1992.
Mr Minnich is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Patty Minnich of Wapakoneta; and Jay and Carolyn Minnich of Asheboro, North Carolina; one step-granddaughter, Holly Ruppert; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary Minnich of New Bremen; Harry and Helen Minnich of Uniopolis; and David and Ginger Minnich of St Matthews, South Carolina; six sisters and brothers-in-law Evelyn Minnich of Geyer; Mary and Zelotes Eschmeyer of New Knoxville; Ruth and Quinton McLean of Walled Lake, Michigan; Philena and Irvin Braun; Barbara Myers; and Thelma Musser, all of Wapakoneta.
He was preceded in death by three brothers,S/Sgt Joseph; James; and Donald; and one sister Edith Oakman.
Mr Minnich had worked worked with Neon Products, Lima, and was a self-employed contractor. In 1992, he retired from the Wapakoneta City Schools. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in Germany.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta. He was a member and past master of Hamer Lodge 167, Free and Accepted Masons, a member and past high priest of Wapakoneta Chapter 183, Royal Arch Masons, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 691, all of Wapakoneta.
He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 330 and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445, both of Wapakoneta.
Funeral services will begin Wednesday at 10:30 AM at the Bayliff and Ely Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, with Rev. David G. Heistand officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta, where full military graveside services will be conducted.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home where an Eagles Memorial Service will be held at 8:00 PM.
