He was born on Thursday, June 30, 1988 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of Charles L. Derickson, Sr. and Tina M. (Evans) Derickson.
Chaz was a graduate of Heritage High School class of 2007 where he participated in track and football. He attended Ivy Tech for two years and worked at Omni Source for the past year; where he operated a forklift. He also worked at Mel's Deli in Monroeville.
Chaz, a beloved son, will be remembered as an ambitious, good hearted, full of life young man, an awesome brother to Brock and Seth, and a delight to his whole family. His family's hearts are greatly saddened by his loss, but full of pride for the son and brother he was to them.
Surviving are his parents, Chuck & Tina Derickson of Monroeville, two brothers, Brock & Seth Derickson of Monroeville, maternal grandmother, Arlene Burleson of Fort Wayne, and his girlfriend, Brittney Kimmel of Fort Wayne. He is also survived by aunt, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel with Dave Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m., Friday, April 1 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday in the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Heritage High School Football.

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - A 22-year-old man was thrown from his vehicle and killed after a crash at the intersection of Wayne Trace and Monroeville Road Wednesday morning.
Two vehicles collided around 6:19 a.m. when a Chevy Malibu pulled out in front of a white SUV.
The Malibu had been stopped at the intersection of Wayne Trace and Monroeville. Upon pulling out from the intersection, the Malibu struck a Chevy Blazer causing the SUV to roll over.
The driver of the SUV was Charles "Chaz" Derickson, 22, of Allen County. According to the Allen County Sheriff's Department, Derickson wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
NewsChannel 15 confirmed with officials at East Allen County Schools that Derickson was a 2007 graduate of Heritage Junior Senior High School.
The driver of the Malibu was treated and released at the scene.
The Allen County Coroner determined the official cause of death was accidental blunt force trauma.
The death is Fort Wayne and Allen County's seventh traffic fatality in 2011.
