Charles P. Tripp
Charles P. Tripp was born in Canada, West, December 19, 1837 and died at his home in Coffin's Grove township, March 27, 1903, of cancer of the stomach from which he has been a sufferer for the past four or five months. He, in company with his parents, came to Delaware county in the fall of 1853 and has since made this county his home. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Bowen, December 16, 1860 to which union nine children were born, seven of whom; Ernest and Ira of Mason City; Robert, of Texas; Eugene of Clinton; William, of McGregor and Bertha and Nellie who lived with their parents; with the loving and devoted wife and mother survive to mourn his loss. To them is extended the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community. Mr. Tripp, enlisted with Co. F. 27th Iowa Volunteer Infantry, August 13, 1862, and was mustered out in June, 1865. He was a member of the M E. church and a conscientious Christian. The funeral services were held at the family home Saturday afternoon. Rev. C. H. Taylor officiating. Interment was made in the Coffin's Grove cemetery.
