John J. "Butch" Galinsky, 60, of Simpson, died Tuesday at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore. His wife is the former Frances Daniels. The couple would have celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary in June.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late John and Theresa Mark Galinsky, he was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War era. He was employed by Grumman-Northrop, Mayfield, for 19 years. He then worked for Gentex Corp.

John loved all sports. Over the years, he was active in baseball, bowling, golf, fishing and hunting. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. He also enjoyed his trips to the casinos.

Also surviving are a son, John J. Galinsky Jr. and wife, Melissa, Carbondale; two daughters, Laurie and husband, John Skumanich, Dickson City; and Denise and husband, Clay Wintermute, Scranton; a brother, Michael Galinsky, Carbondale Twp.; two sisters, Marie Emmett, Simpson; and Lorraine Novobilski, Carbondale; six grandchildren, Justin, Haley, Jason, Mary Theresa, Donald Roy and Avery; an uncle, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson, with Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson, to be celebrated by the Rev. Joseph S. Sitko, pastor. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends may call Friday, 5 to 9 p.m.
