Marian E. (Powers) Beran, of Milton, WI, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011, at the Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 2, 1930, in Janesville, WI, daughter of Hazel and James Powers. She graduated from Milton High School, 1948.
Marian married her beloved husband, Archie Beran, on September 16, 1950. With the early death of Marians parents, she and Archie raised her two sisters, Janet and Joan. Along with her sisters, Marian raised four daughters and two sons. Marian and Archie were proud dairy farmers in the Milton area for 38 years. They also have been members of Milton United Methodist Church for 60 years.
Marian was an avid sports fan. She loved to watch sports of any kind, but especially enjoyed the Badgers, Brewers and Packers. In addition to watching sports she loved to read, do word search puzzles, and for many years played in a couples card club. By far, her favorite activity was polka dancing. Marian and Archie were members of the Wisconsin Polka Booster Association for many years. They traveled to polka fests near and far, taught dance classes, and enjoyed spending time with their numerous polka friends. Marian was also a member of the Paul School Mothers' Club.
Marian is survived by her husband of 60 years, Archie; her sister, Joan (Bob) Urban of Janesville; children: Deb (Jim) Riederer of Madison Dan Beran of Chicago, IL, Theresa (Mark) Olsen of DePere, Tim (Becky) Beran of Dacula, GA, Kim (Tim) Cornelius of Waterford, and Rebecca Confer of Rockford, IL. Marian had 10 grandchildren: Anthony and Allison Riederer, Melissa, Jessica, and Josh Beran, Katie (Ryan) Olsen-Knappenberger, Emily and Christopher Beran, Alexis Beran and Darby Confer. Marian also had two stepgrandchildren, Madalyne and Payton.
To celebrate Marian's life, a visitation will be held at the Milton United Methodist Church, 241 Northside Drive, Milton, WI, Thursday, April 7, 2011, at 10 a.m. The service will begin at 11 a.m., immediately followed by a luncheon. Burial at the Milton Junction Cemetery will follow the luncheon. Whitcomb-Lynch-Albrecht Funeral Home, Milton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
