Fred Mahler worked with my dad and ate lunch with him a lot, and he and his wife were part of my parents' "New Years Eve Gang" that got together annually. After my father's health began to suffer, Fred was compassionate and helpful, helping me get Dad in the door with his wheelchair for my dad's last New Year fling with this close-knit group. Fred had a long tussle with Parkinsons, knew what lay ahead, and maintained his grace and dignity. He and his wife graciously came to my dad's funeral, and while lending support, also took the remaining food to a charity so others in need could partake. My father would have approved indeed.
