Came to Pekin and engaged in the same line of business until 186? when he embarked in the brewing business He sold his business to the American Brewing company at his retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Odd Fellows. Survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters: August Winkel Jr., custodian of Mineral Springs Park, Carl Winkel, Mrs. Edward Reuling and Mrs. Louis Reuling all of this city.
