She was born in Denver, Colorado to Nancy Scott Keen and (absent father/biological, David Lee Keen (d. 5 May 1998). Born in a spring snow storm she was the sweetest baby, hardly ever cried. Only wanted to smile and be loved. At 3 weeks old she flew home with her mother and brother David to Bremerton Washington.
Karen & her brother were adopted by Roger "Barry" Sproed (d. 1 Oct 1998) after his marriage to Nancy. "Rambo" was really the only father she ever knew.
Karen attended grade school at the private Lutheran school, Sheppard of the Mountain and graduated from Hug High School @ Reno, NV. She also earned a CNA certificate from Peninsula College in Port Angeles, WA. She was employed by hotels and restaurants as well as doing home health care in Port Angeles.
Karen had many life long friends in the Reno area including Kirsten Rozwood- Escalante and Tony ???. She also had numerous friends in the Port Angeles/Sequim area.
She moved to Port Angeles, WA to raise her two sons Anthony (20) & Bubba (18) plus her daughter Khya (7); all of whom survive her.
Other survivors include her mother & step-father, Nancy & John Danzer of Portland, OR; her brother David Sproed of Reno, Nevada; her sisters Tammara & Cody Sproed-Denniger; Stephanie Sproed (both of Las Vegas, NV); and Rebecca Keen-Hogan & Hannah Keen of Olympia, WA. Cousins, Ann Sproed, Tina Weis & Tammy Roberts of Portland,OR Uncle Robert & Aunt Mary Sproed of Baker City, Oregon.
Unknown to Karen her biological sister Teres Fletcher lived in the same town as Karen. Karen would have been so happy & proud to have a big sis.
Karen loved to praise the Lord at various churches in Port Angeles and Sequim such as the Vineyard and the Upper Room. She also loved to walk on the beach with her children and friends. Karen's favorite movie, "Message in a bottle"
Celebration of Life service is to be held on Easter Sunday, her ashes given to her family
Karen was proceeded in death by her cousin, Cherie Sproed of Baker City, Oregon, her grandparents, Tom & Ethel Sproed & Ken & Mary Ann Scott. Her biological father, David Lee Keen & her loving always present adopted father, Roger Barry Sproed DOD 10-1-98. Many cousins & Aunts/Uncles. She knew she was dearly loved.
Dawn services @ Williamette Cemetary on Easter (Private-family only) & a celebration of life @ Port Angeles Vineyard church @ 3:oo p.m. on Easter Sunday.
