Note: Published in the April 12, 2011 issue of "The News-Review" in Roseburg, OR and reported on Eugene and Roseburg TV stations was the news about June Gurney, Ralph's widow, receiving a U.S. Flag from the Elkton Post Office to be placed at Ralph's burial location. The newsworthy event occurred because the post office presented Mrs. Gurney a flag with 48 stars which the post office had received from the VA in 1946! At that time, Ralph was serving in Occupied Japan. The flag had disappeared from view and had even been moved from the old post office to the new one without anyone being aware of its existence. Another remarkable feature in this amazing event was that the flag was presented to Mrs. Gurney on Ralph's 83rd birthday, April 10, 2011!
