Rev. Thomas Gwozdz came to the United States as a youth, completed his studies for the priesthood at St. Bonaventure University and was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Buffalo, New York in 1906.
His first assignment was as assistant pastor of Transfiguration Church in Buffalo, where he served until 1910. He was then made pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Medina, which had recently been established and he built the church. In 1912, he was transferred to Olean, at Transfiguration Church there. In 1922, He became pastor of SS. Peter & Paul Church in Depew, where he remained until his death at the age of 73.
