Helena was a homemaker for the majority of her life. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed quilting, bingo, and travel. She retired from Scholastic, Inc. in 2003. She was a lifelong member of the St Frances Xavier Catholic Church of Taos, the Ladies Knights of Colunbus, and Saint Anne's sewing circle.
She is also survived by 11 children, Susan Wieners and husband Bill of Centertown, Rose Leykamp and husband John of Centralia, Norma Leeper and husband Alan of Eugene, Allen Berhorst and wife Melanie of Holts Summit, Jerry Berhorst and wife Hope of Holts Summit, David Berhorst and wife Samantha of Taos, Gene Berhorst and wife Dawn of Taos, Matt Berhorst and wife Bridget of Ashland, Dale Berhorst of Taos, Leo Berhorst (Chris Wilkerson) of St Louis, Jessica Kever and Gary Farris of Taos.
Other survivors include 27 grandchildren, Annessa Green, Christina Allen, Adam Wieners, Andrew Wieners, Mary Leykamp, Paul Leykamp, Daniele Malone, Kelly Lepper, Brian Berhorst, Kevin Berhorst, Kyle Berhorst, Clay Taylor, Tyler Berhorst, Joshua Berhorst, Heather Schultz, Shelby Maddox, Logan Berhorst, Alisha Berhorst, Madelyn Berhorst, Brock Berhorst, Daley Berhorst, Joshua Baker, Skylar Kever, Regan Kever, Emily Kever, Quentin Scrivner, and Madison Farris, and 2 great grandchildren, Rilie Gerloff, Levon Allen. She is also survived by three sisters, Barbara Rackers and Rita Forck of Taos, and Mary Riegel of Loose Creek and two brothers, Anthony Taube and Joseph Taube of Jefferson City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Augustus Taube, Otto Taube, Lieberatus Taube, Leo Taube, and one half brother Frank Taube and two sisters, Agatha Rustemeyer and Theresa Wolken and one half sister, Katherine Verslues.
Friends and family will be received from 4-8p.m. Tuesday at the Taos Knights of Columbus Hall, with a prayer service at 3'30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10a.m. on Wednesday April 27, 2011 at the St Frances Xavier Catholic Chirch, with interment in the St Frances Xavier Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Frances Xavier Catholic School or the Special Learning Center.
