Orville Arnold Augustin entered into the presence of Christ on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Fairview Seminary Home in Red Wing after a long battle with cancer.

He was born at home to Olga (Meyer) and Rudolph Augustin on December 30, 1923. He attended District 20 and Immanuel Lutheran Schools. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hay Creek, and was a lifelong member.
On June 2, 1951 he married Marjorie Alms at Concordia Lutheran Church in Red Wing. They were planning to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary in a few weeks.
Orville farmed his entire life on the family homestead in Hay Creek which was recognized as a Century Farm. In 1994 they moved to Red Wing.
Much of his activity off the farm centered on volunteerism and lay leadership at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School. He served as president, elder and various other church offices and sang in the choir. He was a lifelong supporter of Christian education.
Orville was active in Rural Youth, served on the Board of Directors for Midland Cooperatives and was recognized by the Soil and Water Conservation Service for his stewardship of the land which he farmed.
He enjoyed fishing, reading, collecting tools, toys and bells from garage sales and attending his grandchildren's school and sports activities.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, four children Sharon (Rev. David) Frederickson of Plainview, MN, Susan Domagala, Robert (Mary) Augustin of Red Wing, and Michael (Dr. Kathy MacLaughlin) Augustin of Rochester, MN; seven grandchildren Jennifer Frederickson, Rachel (Brad) Collins, Kathryn Augustin, Luke Augustin, Joshua Augustin, Benjamin Domagala and Emily Augustin; two great-grandchildren Tyler and Allison Collins; two sisters Hilda Wendel of Storm Lake, IA, and Ruth (Larry) Hanusch of Roland Park, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Larry, son-in-law Duane Domagala, brothers Hilbert, Lenus, Julius, Harold, Martin, and sisters Linda Alms and Frieda Kull.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hay Creek, with Reverend Lowell Sorenson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever" Psalm 23:6.
