An Army Veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion in Walker. He managed the body shop at Clinton Lincoln-Mercury Co for 18 years. He later worked at Upton Body Shop for 12 years, which he owned during the last year. He sold the business and retired in 1976.
Bob served overseas, has 2 overseas service bars, American Campaign medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, 2 Bronze Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, World War II Victory Medal. Received a shell fragment in the right ankle in Suggerath Germany on 24 NOV 1944. Was in Rhineland Central Europe. He also received Exp Inf Badge, Inf Badge Exp w/carbine and SS w/rifle. He was discharged on 29 DEC 1945 at the Separation Center, Camp Grant, IL.
