Charles Donald Behrends, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Behrends of Auburn, died September 11 at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.
A graduate of Auburn High School in 1969. Behrends was injured in an automobile accident near Sabetha, KS. on Aug. 23. He was transferred to the Lincoln hospital the following day, where he had surgery and was being treated for numerous fractures and serious internal injuries.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Auburn.
Active in athletics at AHS, he was vice-president of the A. Club, lettered in Football three years and was an All-Conference choice his junior year. He played Junior Legion baseball and helped coach the little league program in 1968. He was also a member of the math and Science Club.
Born in Auburn, he had lived all of his life in this community.
Survivors include his parents, Mr.and Mrs. Donald Behrends; three sisters, Mrs. Gerald Strecker of Hamburg, Iowa; Wanda and Janice at home, and a brother, Ronald, also at home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. September 13 at Saint Paul's Lutheran church in Auburn, Nebraska, conducted by Rev. Alan Lorentzen.
Burial will be in the church cemetery, with Caseys in charge of arrangements.
