Norbert P. Emig, 73, of Woodburn, a World War II and Korean War Army veteran, died Sunday, March, 11, 2001, at home. The Fort Wayne native retired in 1976 Navistar International as an inspector. He was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 296 and Disabled American Veterans. He was the first person from Allen County to be recalled for the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Surviving are his wife, Thola J.; and cousins Elsabeth Fridley of Gahanna, Ohio, and Betty L. Treadway of Midford, Ore.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln Way E., New Haven, with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. Burial with military graveside services will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials are to the Woodburn Volunteer Fire Department.
