Albert William Behrends, son of William and Gretje (Eden) Behrends. Born on a farm near Johnson, Nemaha County, Nebraska on January 11, 1892.
He was one of 3 children born to this marriage.
He was baptized January 31, 1892 at St. John's Lutheran (Stone) Church by Rev. J.H. Dirks, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith April 8, 1906 at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church. He received his schooling in the Beckmann school south of Johnson, Nebraska.
July 28, 1915, he was married to Adele L. Antholz at Johnson, Nebraska. Seven children were born to this marriage. Soon after their marriage they moved to a farm south of Rohrs, Nebraska, in the Stone church neighborhood. She died January 23, 1937.
On December 23, 1947, he married Lydia Teten Behrends. They continued to live on Albert's farm until her death December 21, 1967. Soon after her death, Albert moved into Humboldt, Nebraska, where he lived the past 10 years.
He became seriously ill and entered the Humboldt Hospital on November 7 and died on November 11, 1978. He had reached age age of 86 years and 10 months.
In addition to his two wives, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Surviving are his 6 sons; Melvin of Auburn, Ivan of Johnson, Clarence of Webber, Kansas., Orval of Johnson, Chester of Johnson and Maynard of Auburn; by his one daughter, Lenora (Mrs. Glen Remmers) of Auburn; one stepson, Allister Behrends of Tecumseh; 32 grandchildren. 25 great grandchildren; one half sister, Mrs. Lydia Fass of Johnson.
Funeral serviced held at St. John's(Stone)Lutheran Church November 15, 1978. Reverend Everett Brailey officiated. Casket bearers were his sons. Interment was at St. John's Cemetery.
