Richard John Wilson II died March 22, 1989 at the Valdez Small Boat Harbor. Born in Redmond, Ore. on January 22, 1955, Mr. Wilson resided in Alaska for 15 years and was a partsman at a Valdez automotive store. He had lived at Unalaska prior to joining the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of the Marymount Military Academy in Tacoma, Wash.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1975 to 1985 earning the rank of Boatswain Mate First Class and served aboard the USS South Carolina.

He is survived by his mother, Jacqui Wilson of Wasilla; four sisters, Mary Lesemann of Valdez; Arklee Wilson of Wasilla; Eva and Orlie Bautista and Dorothy "Dody" Wilson of San Francisco, and nine nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wilson received a 21-gun salute at his funeral, which took place March 27 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial took place at the Valdez Cemetery.

Mr. Wilson was born in Redmond, Ore., Jan. 22, 1955, and lived in Alaska for 15 years. He was a partsman at a Valdez automotive store. He lived at Captains Bay, in Unalaska, prior to joining the U.S. Navy. Mr. Wilson was a graduate of the Marymount Military Academy in Tacoma, Wash., and during his tour of Naval duty, he served aboard the USS South Carolina. He leaves his mother, Jacqui Wilson, of Wasilla; and his sisters, Mary Lesemann, of Valdez, Arklee Wilson, of Wasilla, and Eva Bautista and Dorothy Wilson, both of San Francisco. Burial will be in the Valdez Cemetery. Local arrangements were by Witzleben Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Bragaw Chapel.
