Alvin Hoefer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hoefer, residing near New Vienna, sustained a painful injury last Tuesday when he was kicked by a horse and suffered a compound fracture of the lower jaw. The young man was bringing the horses in from the pasture when one of them kicked back striking young Hoefer in the face. He was rendered unconscious by the blow. Physicians were summoned and the injured youth taken to a hospital in Dubuque were the fracture was reduced. It was necessary to wire the jaw in setting the bone.
