Death of Mr. Charles Krumrey

Mr. Charles Krumrey, step-father of Mrs. John Sweeter and Mr. Emil Tonn of this city died in a hospital in S. Paul Sunday, March 6, having been taken there Feb. 28, from the home of Mr. Tonn. His ailment was tumor of the stomach. Mr. Tonn went to St. Paul the latter part of last week and was with him to the end.

The remains were brought here Monday and the funeral was held on Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran church conducted by Rev. G. Fritschel, and interment was in Graceland.

Obituary

Following is a sketch of the life of Mr. Charles Krummrey, mention of whose death was made in the Gazette last week.

Deceased was born Jan. 24, 1835 at Flatow, West Prussia. At the age of 13 he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was married to Christina Schmidt June 24, 1860, in his native land. In the spring of 1876 they came to America, first settling at Charles City. They remained there two years and then moved to a farm three miles south of Williamstown. His wife died Feb. 1, 1907, and the following winter he made his home with Mr. Tonn and family.

He is survived by four step-children - Mrs. Henry Krumrey of Charles City, Carl Schoenfeld in Germany, Mrs. J. Sweeter and Mr. Tonn of New Hampton.

Relatives from a distance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. August Meyer, Mr. Henry Krumrey, Julius Kurmrey and son William of Niles, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Manning, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Venz, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Meyer of Bassett, Mrs. R. L. Tracy and Mrs. E. Belitz of Minneapolis, Mrs. Henry Krumrey and daughters, Mrs. Roy Strong and Mrs. William Ebert, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kley and Mr. and Mrs. G. Krumrey of Charles City.
