He was born in Kent, England, April 29, 1840, and came to this country with his parents when a boy of nine years. The family located in New York Mills and there in 1862 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Payne. Shortly afterwards the removed to Clayville, but after a brief stay there went to Prospect, where Mrs. Waghorn died about four years ago.
For the past few years he had lived a retired life, making his home with his son, John, near this village, but about five months ago went to visit his son at whose home he passed away. He was a man of strong and upright character and was well and favorably known in this community. He was a consistent member of the Baptist Church in Prospect.
Surviving him are three sons, John Waghorn of Prospect; George Paine Waghorn of Cedar Lake and Fred C. Waghorn of North Litchfield; two daughters, Mrs. Curtis P. Wilcox of Prospect and Mrs. Ernest (Florence) Loucks of Floyd and a sister, Mrs. George (Susan) Nightingale of Westmoreland.
The remains were brought to this village, where the funeral will be held tomorrow morning. Rome Sentinel, Monday Evening, May 12, 1913
