He was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 22, 1916. His parents were Wilhelm August Klaus Bosen and Marie (Springer) Bosen, of German decent. Before moving to St.Ignace in 1945 he was a Detroit Fireman and worked for Bulldog Electric. In St. Ignace he was an employee of Colby Fisheries, and then a mechanic for Wings Garage and Ray Motors. He then started for the Michigan State Ferry Boats as a parking attendent, moving to warehouse manager until after the Mackinac Bridge opened. He transfered to the State Highway Department in Bridge Maintenance after the ferry system closed the warehouse, in 1960. He retired from the State of Michigan in 1976 . During his tenure he worked on refurbishing of the Cut River Bridge project, and traveled much on bridge maintenance. In his youth he was in the CCC camp, all in the UP, the Kenrucky, the Munising, and the Brevort Lake camp and others. He was on the Gros Cap School board many years, and was a Boy Scout Leader at Gros Cap and a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in St.Ignace and sang in the choir for many years. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows.
On October 31,1937, he married Mildred Krueger in Detroit, and she died December 9, 1997. He is survived by 3 sons and 3 daughters. Gary & Colleen Bosen, Goodrich, MI; Paul & Beth Bosen, Manistique, MI; Chris and Nancy Bosen, Livonia,MI; Kay & Bill Soblaskey, Cooksville, TN.; Joan & Tamlyn Fogelsonger, Pacifica, WA.; Shari & Daren Strobel, Minden, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death also by 2 sisters and a brother; Martha Kepler; Marie Donnley; and William Bosen.
Funeral services held Saturday, November 13 at the funeral home with Deacon Don Olmstead officiating. Burial in Gros Cap Cemetery following the services beside his wife, Mildred. Pallbearers were grandsons; Kelly, Keith, Kurt & Steven Bosen; Billy Soblaskey and Jeff Soblaskey, Christopher Bosen and Gary Bosen.
