Steven Allen Sather, 52, of Seattle, Washington died on Sept. 5, 2010 after a 3-month battle with lung cancer. Born in Moscow, Idaho on Jan. 3, 1958, he grew up in Oregon, the third of four children to Gary and Jeannine (Heimgartner) Sather. He graduated from Neah-Kah-Nie High School, Rockaway Beach, Oregon in 1976. In high school he was involved in football, basketball and golf. He continued his education at Oregon State University and graduated with a B.A. in Business Administration.

He married Karin Hevly October 4, 1997. They made their home in Wedgwood together with their son, Ryan, 10 and daughter, Hannah, 7. He enjoyed family outings, hunting, fishing, camping, his dogs, and woodworking.

He worked from 1977 to 2009 in the fishing industry in Alaska, and he had his own fine woodworking business, Sather Woodworks, in Seattle. He made custom furniture and cabinets and did finish work.

He is survived by; his wife Karin, children Ryan and Hannah, his parents Gary and Jeannine Sather, of Lewiston, Idaho, brother John (Carole-Jean) Sather of Junction City, Oregon, sister Jean (Dan) Stephenson of Silverton, Oregon, and brother Doug Sather of Hillsboro, Oregon, his father and mother-in-law Jack and Connie Hevly, of Camano Island, sisters-in-law Janet Shapley and Marianne Norden, brothers-in-law Mike (Becky) Hevly, and Brian (Tiffany) Hevly and many nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Allen Bennett Sather and Laura "Alice" (Wegner) Sather and maternal grandparents, Elmer Heimgartner and Lola Mae (Lerew) Heimgartner, and a brother-in-law Roy Shapley.

A memorial service will be held Monday, September 13, 2010 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Seattle, Washington. His body was cremated and ashes are with family.

In lieu of flowers, an education trust will be established for the children, or memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
