Kenneth C. Kirchner, age 79, of 4022 Kruschke Ave., died on Monday, May 10, 2004, at St. Nicholas Hospital, with his wife and all of his children at his side.
Ken was born on April 12, 1925, in Sheboygan. He attended Horace Mann School and graduated from North High School in 1943.
On July 16, 1945, he was united in marriage to Rogene Federer at Norfolk, Va. Together and being very devoted to each other, they had a very strong and loving relationship. He retired after 37 years of employment with Georgia Pacific Corp.
Ken had been a volunteer with the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department, serving as assistant fire chief. He enjoyed woodworking, many times using only simple pieces of wood for his projects. He had a fondness for animals and raised a variety including rabbits, pigeons and doves. Ken also enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Ken was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy as a fireman aboard submarines.
Ken was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.
Ken is survived by his wife, Rogene; three sons; three daughters; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Jo, and his parents, Lawrence and Katherine (Huibregtse) Schulte.
Funeral services for Ken will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 13 at Novak-Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home, S. 12th St., on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m.
