Infamous for having embezzled at least 20,000 dollars, from the National Shoe and Leather Bank of New York City. His brother in law Samuel C. Seeley was also involved in stealing money from the bank. He initially fled but was apprehended in Chicago. They both pleaded guilty to the charges. Another person involved in the theft, Frederick R. Baker, committed suicide just before his role in stealing more than $300,000 from the same bank was revealed.
