Sylvia Carow, 75, Edgeley, N.D. died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown.
Sylvia Ann Exner was born Aug. 23, 1927, at Braddock, N.D., the daughter of Adolph and Clara (Duncan) Exner. She moved to a farm with her family near Edgeley, and attended country school. In 1942 they moved to Jamestown, where she graduated from St. John's Academy. She worked for King Studio, Jamestown. She married Clifford Carow on Sept. 27, 1948, at The Basilica of St. James, Jamestown. They lived at the Carow family farm near Edgeley. They owned and operated Cliff's Tavern, Edgeley from 1964-74. They moved into Edgeley in 1968. She was employed as an in-home care specialist with LaMoure County for 20 years caring for more than 100 clients. She entered Central Dakota Village, Jamestown, in 1998. She was a member of the Edgeley Ambulance Crew, Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, where she taught religion for many years, Transfiguration Altar Society and the Edge-Ettes Homemakers.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, C. Jay, Montpelier, N.D., and Kim (Sheryl), Edgeley; three daughters, Carlann "Carlie," Fargo, N.D., Meleia (Roger) Anderson, Edgeley and Lisa, (Keith) Kuhn, Gackle, N.D.; a sister, Margaret Exner, Winnipeg, Manitoba; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Glen, James and Bernard; a sister, Claretta; and a grandson.
