Mrs. W. M. Riley Died in Dallas Monday
Mrs. W. M. Riley, 83, a resident of Hood County throughout her life died in Dallas Monday, December 31, 1962. She had been in Dallas several months, consenting to go only when her health necessitated constant nursing. She loved her home and friends here, was devoted to her family and had an innate gentleness which endeared her to all who were privileged to know her.
Mrs. Riley was the widow of W. M. Riley, Sr., who was in the dry goods business on the north side of the square here for many years, operating the Blue Front. After his death, Mrs. Riley continued with the business as long as she was able. Like her husband, she was a devout member of the Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two sons, J. B. Riley of Dallas and W. M. Riley, Jr. of San Angelo; three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Tabor of Dallas, Mrs. Sherman Umphress of St. Paul, Minnesota and Mrs. John Swinney of Bowie, fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 2, 1963 at 2:00 pm at the Presbyterian Church with Rev. Edward Bayless officiating. Interment was in the Granbury Cemetery. Estes Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were Beach Cherry, Bruce Price, Virgil Perry, Jack Caskey, Milton Kennon and E. G. Williams.
