However, Richard Tuttle became responsible for Dorothy Tuttle Bill's affairs after her husband John's death -- via a writ of 21 January 1638/9,1 month after his death. This writ proves to me that the death record is not only correctly spelled, but indicates the death of this John Bill.
Based on the date of the birth of his oldest son, John was probably born circa 1590-1595. While a John Bill is listed as emigrating aboard the Hopewell, Mr. William Bundocke, master, in 1635, he is on the manifest as 13 years of age and so is not this John Bill. Instead, it is believed to be his son John, Jr. The Hopewell
voyage mentioned here also carried the Farrington family and embarked from London to New England at the same time as the Planter, which carried the Tuttle clan to America.
