John BILL, born in 1593 of John Bill 1576-1639 and Anne Mountford 1587-1621, He died on December 10, 1638 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts.

Some sources claim that this death record is a misspelled entry for "James Bill". However, Richard Tuttle became responsible for Dorothy Tuttle Bill's affairs after her husband John's death -- via a writ of 21 January 1638/9,1 month after his death. This writ proves to me that the death record is not only correctly spelled, but indicates the death of this John Bill.

Based on the date of the birth of his oldest son, John was probably born circa 1590-1595. While a John Bill is listed as emigrating aboard the Hopewell, Mr. William Bundocke, master, in 1635, he is on the manifest as 13 years of age and so is not this John Bill. Instead, it is believed to be his son John, Jr. The Hopewell
voyage mentioned here also carried the Farrington family and embarked from London to New England at the same time as the Planter, which carried the Tuttle clan to America.
John is of Ringstead, Northamptonshire, England. The Mary Bill who traveled with Dorothy Tuttle's brother William aboard the Planter is believed to be John Sr.'s daughter and surmised to be from this area.

1615 John married Dorothy TUTTLE, daughter of Simon Tuttle 1560-1635 & Isabel Wells 1565-1635, in England. They had the following children:

i. James 1615-1688
ii. Thomas 1618
iii. Phillip1621-1689
iv. John 1622
v. Mary 1624
