Donald L. Whaley, 70, a life long resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a member of Union Grove Church of Christ where he was an elder for the past 23 years. He was retired from Bowaters Corporation and was also formerly employed with Duracell Corporation.
Mr. Whaley was the son of the late Petus M. Whaley and Alene Robinson Whaley and was also preceded in death by his twin brothers, Tommy and Johnny Whaley.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty Quinn Whaley of Cleveland; two sons and daughters-in-law: Jeff and Tammy Whaley and Greg and Melanie Whaley all of Cleveland; five grandchildren: Jason Whaley, Jessica Whaley, Alyssa Whaley, Heather Whaley and Cody Whaley; one great-grandchild; one brother and sister-in-law: Jim and Peggy Whaley of Cleveland; mother-in-law, Helen Quinn of Cleveland; nephews: Mike Whaley and Richard Whaley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Minister Roger Campbell, Minister Jeff Archey and Minister Richard Guill officiating. Interment will follow in Union Grove Church of Christ Cemetery with Jason Whaley, Cody Whaley, Tim McCracken, Jim Randolph, Clyde Brewer, Jr. and Mark Stephenson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene McCracken, Charles Cartwright, Joe Ownbey and Ralph Daniel.
