Thomas Wayne Hatfield (1953 - 2011)

Tom Hatfield peacefully passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011, after experiencing a stroke on Tuesday. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Richland Hills Christian Church. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please donate to the memorial fund at Richland Hills Christian Church, 3908 Ruth Road, Richland Hills, Texas 76118 or The National Stroke Association.

Tom was born Nov. 23, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He moved with his parents to Germany and then to Fort Worth following his dad's work in the U. S. Air Force. He graduated from Haltom High School in 1972. He met his future wife, Melanie, at their first jobs at Six Flags Over Texas. He attended Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Tom graduated with an accounting degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He earned his certified public accountant license and worked for both a national firm and a local firm before opening his own CPA practice. Tom loved his work and helping his clients. He was a wonderful and loving dad for his three children and an equally loving dad-in-law. His greatest joy was being "Pops" to his grandson, Brendon. He was a member of Richland Hills Christian Church for over 30 years, serving as chairman of the board, treasurer, elder and deacon. Thank you to the loving staff of the ICU and Palliative Care Unit at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty Hatfield.

Survivors: Melanie; Philip, Jenni and Brendon; David and Heather; Sara and Eric; Bob and Faye McLaren.
