Frank Vogt, 72, former Enid police chief and deputy sheriff, died Saturday morning at a local hospital after a long illness.

He was chief of police here from May, 1935 until August 1937. He served as deputy sheriff from 1926 to 1930. During WWII he served as an agent of the state crime bureau. A native of Kansas, Vogt came to Enid 40 years ago from Florida. He married Hilda Went in 1923. Vogt was a veteran of WWI, past commander of the local VFW and a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his widow, Hilda of the home, 2625 W. Oklahoma; three daughters, Mrs. Mart W. (Betty) Bryson and Mrs. Eugene J. (Mary Jo) McCoy, both of Enid, and Mrs. K. N. Kathryn) McCullem, Seattle, Wash.; three sons, Bill Vogt of Long Beach, Calif., Bob Vogt, Oklahoma City, and Jim Vogt, serving with the US Navy; a sister, Lena Vogt of Nevada, Mo.; three brothers, Albert Vogt, Hutchinson, Kan., Carl Vogt, Downey, Calif., and John Vogt, Tucson, Ariz., and 12 grandchildren.
