Nancy was adopted as a new-born baby by Edward J. and Esther L. Hirsch in April, 1960, in Lawrence, Kansas. She was brought to Lincoln to live in the Hirsch family home. Within 2-3 months, she had developed medical problems and was frequently taken to a doctor for assessment. Eventually she was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Upon the last occasion, she was left overnight and died during the night, apparently from a problem with the heart.
While she was with the family only briefly, her memory remains a part of us and we try not to forget this brief life and tragic end as we struggle with life's challenges.
