SALVO - Barbara Cartwright Midgett, 53, of Salvo, died Dec. 23 in a Chesapeake, Va. hospital. She was a native of Currituck County.

Mrs. Midgett was the owner and operator of the Beach and Bay Campground in Salvo and a member of the Salvo Assembly of God Church.

She was the daughter of the late Nathan and Mrs. Polly Simpson Cartwright and the widow of Raymond R. Midgett, Sr.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda Kilburn of Salvo; one son, Raymond R. Midgett, Jr. of Salvo; three sisters: Ruth Hatchell of Grandy, Shirley Franklin of San Diego, California, and Madeline Kirel of Fountain Valley, California; five brothers: Nathan Cartwright, Jr. and Frank Cartwright, both of Grandy, Thurman Cartwright of Point Harbor, Ervin Cartwright of Riddle, and Griggs Cartwright of San Diego, California; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 27 in the Salvo Assembly of God Church by the Rev. Bill Tolson. Burial was in the Midgett Family Cemetery in Salvo. Twiford Colony Chapel in Manteo is handling arrangements.
