Bruce George Stender of Waconia, and formerly of Norwood
Young America and St. Louis,MO. died Saturday April 23,2011
in his lakeside apartment on Lake Waconia.Funeral services
to be held Saturday,April 30,2p.m. at St. John's Lutheran
Church in Norwood Young America,with Pastor David Winter
officiating.Family greeting will be held at 12p.m. with services at 2p.m.Interment next to his parents will follow
at the cemetery.
Bruce was born to Edwin and Evelyn(Harms)Stender April 3,1953 in Waconia.He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America.On Aug. 13,
1971,he was united in marriage with Nancy Blanchard.Bruce
and Nancy had a daughter,Tara Ann Stender Wujcik on Oct.24,
1975.The couple made their home in St. Louis,MO. until they
divorced.Bruce enjoyed his family a great deal but especially the children.He was very proud of his daughter and her photography career.Bruce loved raising German Shepard dogs,mostly his white albino Shepard Ace. He was an
avid fisherman and spent a lot of time on many lakes throughout the state of Minnesota and Missouri.Bruce has
had a friend of Bill W. for the past four years which brought great enrichment to his life.Bruce had been battling terminal cancer since Nov.2009.
he was preceded in death by his parents;brother,Dennis Stender;sister-in-law,Diane Stender;brother-in-law,John Hershey and Robert Johnson;two nephews,Anthony Stender and
John Harms;and three nieces,Kim Stender Scroggins,Sharon
Stender Lunday and Teri Stender.
Survivors include his daughter,Tara Ann Stender Wujcik;
sisters,Mary Jane Stender Hershey,Ruth Ann Stender,Susan
Stender Johnson,Jolene Margaret Stender Harthun and husband
Kim;nieces,Mary Stender Antone and husband Patrick,Cindy Stender Yates,Jennifer Lowenthal-Hershey and husband Jason,
Patricia Hanser and husband Clifford,Christina Hoyt and
husband Jeff and Heather and Heidi Beth Harthun;nephew,Joseph Mead;and many great nieces and nephews.
The family asks that instead of flowers,memorial donations be made to St. John's Lutheran School on Norwood Young
America.
