Melvin Lester Hirschel, 64, of Whitehall. died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones after a long illness. Born in Allentown, on December 25, 1945, he was a son of the late Frederick H. Hirschel, Sr. and Doris L. (Warmkessel) Kern. Melvin was an employee at Schlofer Auto Body for 27 years as an auto body mechanic, and an avid Elvis enthusiast.
Survivors: Sisters, Bonnie Waterhouse, Mary Jane Longenbach, Margie Kern; half sisters, Kathy Edmundson, Rosalie; half brothers, Frederick Hirschel Jr., Richard Hirschel; companion with whom he resided, Cheryl Christman. He was preceeded in death by step father, Walter F. Kern.
