Michael S. Walter, 48, of Cheyenne died Sept. 8 at United Medical Center-West.

He was born Jan. 30, 1953, in Iowa City, Iowa, and had lived here most of his life.

Mr. Walter was a firefighter for the city of Cheyenne for more than 20 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and was past president of the Local International Association of Firefighters Union.

Mr. Walter is survived by his wife, Debbie Walter of Cheyenne, whom he married March 31, 1973; son, Jordan Walter of Cheyenne; daughter, Karin Wingert of Cheyenne; parents, Robert and Alice Walter of Cheyenne; and two brothers, Mark Walter and Matthew Walter, both of Cheyenne.

Mass will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Vernon Clark as celebrant. Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Friends may contribute to Alcoholics Anonymous or the fund for the Walter Family in care of St. Joseph's Credit Union, 601 Randall Ave., Cheyenne, WY 82001.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
