"Rites Held for Sister Agnes, Enochsburg Girl.

Sister Agnes, Sister of the Poor of St. Francis (formerly Marcella Bessler)daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bessler of Enochsburg, Indiana passed away at St. Clara Convent, Hartwell, Cincinnati, Ohio, Sunday, April 24 at the age of 23. Her death followed an illness of about two months which was caused from an unsuccessful operation which was performed about two years ago. [Breast cancer surgery]

At the age of twenty she gave up her home and friends to join the congregation of the Sisters of the Poor of St. Francis and to help in the work of charity in their many hospitals throughout the country.

She was invested in the white veil, November 4,1935. She was invested in the black veil, November 4 1937.

Stationed at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Covington, Kentucky, she worked faithfully as a dietitian until retiring because of ill health about two months ago. The funeral services were held Wednesday morning, April 27 at St. Clara Convent, Hartwell, with interment in the convent cemetery. Many family members and friends were present to pay their respects..."
