Bernard Schute Called By Death.
On Friday evening, April 2, 1915, at 6:00 o'clock at his home in this city occurred the death of Bernard Schute, after a lingering illness. Deceased was born at Guttenberg, Iowa, on October 1, 1866, as a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lucas Schute, and therefore was 48 years, 6 months and 1 day of age at the time of his death. He was married at Guttenberg, May 26, 1891, to Mathilda Thamman. All that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest to ward off death was done for him, but all to no avail. He was a patient sufferer and had not
given up hopes for recovery until the Angel of Death called him to that world, where there is no more suffering, but joy and happiness forever.
Mr. Schute was an ambitious man during his entire life, and for a number of years had been successfully engaged as foreman of the Meuser Lumber yard. He was a kind and true husband, father, brother and friend, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. His untimely death is deeply mourned by his wife, two daughters, Clara, of La Crosse, Wis., and Florence at home, three brothers, Henry and Herman Schute, of Guttenberg, Joseph Schute, of Dyersville, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. Peter Thome, of Guttenberg, and a large number of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in this city Tuesday morning, Rev. J. H. Brinkman, officiating. Interment was made in the new Catholic Cemetery. The funeral was largely attended. Deceased was also a member of St. Clemens and Sacred Heart Societies.
