His father, J. J. Cassidy, a Londonderry Irishman, for many years was a staff writer on Cincinnati papers. His mother, Viola Smith Cassidy, wrote features for newspapers and magazines.
Mr. Cassidy was born in Newport, Kentucky, married in 1900, Miss Bertha Stevens in Cincinnati. They came to Texas on their honeymoon, settled in San Antonio, lived there, and settled in Waco before coming to Dallas in 1906.
Surviving are his wife and a daughter, Viola Adele Cassidy.
Services will be held at 10 a. m. Monday at the Cassidy home, 6940 Lakewood Blvd. Dr. A. M. Rodgers, pastor of the Ross Avenue Baptist Church, assisted by Robert H. Coleman, assistant to the pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.
