James Burlingame was born at Owatonna, Minn. In 1893, three years after arriving in Great Falls, he married Amy Gregg. To them were born two daughters Frances Marie and Amy Louise. The wife and mother died in 1903. A year and a half later he returned to Owatonna and there married Kathryn Percy Berg. She died in 1906.
Some years later he married Eloise Corbin of Hammond, La., who survives him, along with her son, James, Jr., 12. Other survivors include the daughters, Frances, an instructor at Wellesley college but now on a world tour, and Mrs. Amy Davies, who resides in California. In addition, there survives a sister, Mrs. Frank Roberts of Great Falls.
